Army Closes Archeological Site In Sebastia

Israeli soldiers closed, for the second day, the archeological site in Sebastia Palestinian town, north of Nablus, in northern West Bank, to allow groups of colonialist settlers into it.

The Mayor of Sebastia, Mohammad Azem, said dozens of illegal colonialist settlers, accompanied by many soldiers invaded the site after the soldiers closed the entire area to the Palestinians.

Azem added that the soldiers closed the site on Tuesday, and continued the closure Wednesday, to prevent the Palestinians from reaching it.

It is worth mentioning that the soldiersfrequently invade Sebastiato accompany groups of illegal Israeli colonialist settlers into the archeological site, an issue that leads to protests,injuries, and abductions of locals.

During these invasions, the soldiers block all Palestinian traffic, in addition to frequently storming homes,abducting Palestinians, andattacking protesters, in addition toremoving the Palestinian flagfrom the site.

Israeli Colonists Invade Archaeological Site Near Hebron

A group of illegal Israeli colonists, accompanied by many soldiers, invaded an archaeological site, Tuesday, in the Sammoa’ Palestinian town, south of Hebron, in southern West Bank.

Local sources said the soldiers, and the settlers, invaded the town, before heading to a Roman-era archeological site, known as al-Burj.

They added that the soldiers and the colonialist settlers repeatedly invade the site, after the army closes and isolates the entire area to prevent the Palestinians from reaching it.

It is worth mentioning that the archaeological area of “al-Burj” witnesses repeated invasions, including during Jewish holidays, as it contains the ruins of a church dating back to the Roman era, in addition to the ruins of the al-Mihrab mosque.

Soldiers Abduct Two Palestinians In Ramallah

Israeli soldiers abducted, earlier on Wednesday, two young Palestinian men from their homes, while the army also accompanied colonialist setters into a site, near Ramallah, in central West Bank.

Media sources in Ramallah said several army jeeps invaded the al-Jalazoun refugee camp, north of the city, and Deir Jarir village, northeast of Ramallah, before the soldiers broke into and searched many homes, and abducted two young men.

They said the soldiers abducted Ma’an Abdul-‘Alim Alawi, 20, from Deir Jarir, and Ayman Rami Zeid, 19, from al-Jalazoun.

In related news, the soldiers invaded Beit ‘Or al-Foqa village, west of Ramallah, to accompany groups of illegal colonialist settlers into an archaeological site in the area.

In addition, the army invaded Beita village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, fired many concussion grenades and flares, in addition to breaking into and searching a few homes.

Mentally Disabled Palestinian Shot in the Back and Killed by Israeli Police

33 year old Munir Anabtawi from Haifa was killed by Israeli police on Tuesday in Haifa, in the northern part of what is now Israel. Munir was mentally disabled and his mother had called for an ambulance when he left the house distressed, hoping that he could be taken to the hospital for treatment. Instead of an ambulance, Israeli police arrived and shot him 5 times in the back.

The mother of Munir Anabtawi accused officers of killing her son “in cold blood”.

She told the Arabs48 News Agency, “Police killed my son in cold blood instead of helping him. They interrogated me without informing me of the death of my son”.

Itaf Anabtawi told reporters that her son “posed no threat, nor had he been violent before”. She said that she believed he was acting erratically because she had refused to give him money for cigarettes.

Hunger Striking Detainee Moved For Hospital To Solitary Confinement

Despite his deteriorating health condition, the Israeli authorities transferred a detainee who began a hunger strike 40 days ago, from Kaplan Israeli Medical Center to solitary confinement in Nitzan prison, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees has confirmed.

In a statement, the commission said the detainee Imad al-Batran, 47, from the southern West Bank city of Hebron, started a hunger strike 40 days ago, protesting his continued arbitrary Administrative Detention, without charges or trial.

It added that the detainee is facing various health conditions, including sharp pain in the abdomen, head, and joints, in addition to constant fatigue.

It is worth mentioning that, in the year 2013, the detainee held hunger-strike for 105 consecutive days, in addition to 36 days in the year 2016.

Detainee Faces Serious Health Conditions In Negev Prison

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees has reported that a Palestinian detainee, identified as Emad Rabay’a, is facing a serious health condition at the Negev Desert detention camp.

The commission stated that Rabay’a, 43, from Methaloon town, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, started facing a deterioration in his health in November of last year; however, the Israeli Prison Authority kept delaying providing him with medical attention, and refused to have him examined by a specialist until February of this year.

After several medical tests, the detainee was diagnosed with vasculitis, and received some doses of cortisone, which also caused further complications, including pain, red pimples, and high fever, which requires him to be seen by a specialist, however, the prison authority in denying him that right.
