To judge US President Joe Biden’s recent visit to Israel and Palestine as a ‘failure’ in terms of activating the dormant ‘peace process’ is simply a misnomer. For this statement to be accurate, Washington would have had to indicate even a nominal desire to push for negotiations between the Israeli government and the Palestinian leadership.

Political and diplomatic platitudes aside, the current American administration has done the exact opposite as indicated in Biden’s words and actions. Alleging that the US commitment to a two-state solution “has not changed”, Bidendismissedhis Administration’s interest in trying to achieve such a goal by declaring that the “ground is not ripe” for negotiations.

Since launching in 2015, Artists for Palestine UK has advocated for artists and arts organisations to refuse professional engagements with Israel’s complicit cultural sector. We have helped publicise much information in support of arts professionals taking these stands.

We have now obtained a full copy of the standard contract of the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts’s Israel Cinema Project that filmmakers must sign before receiving funding. Rabinovich’s Cinema Project is Israel’s largest film fund.

We are publishing an excerpt of the contract, which shows that the fund insists that filmmakers pledge not to acknowledge Israel’s apartheid or ethnic cleansing against Palestinians.

All filmmakers seeking Rabinovich funding – whether Jewish Israeli or Palestinians with Israeli citizenship – must agree to these racist political conditions. We hope that by exposing it, international film institutions can make informed decisions regarding their…

French President Emmanuel Macron is hosting Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman [MBS] for talks in Paris on Thursday, regardless of criticism that the invitation is deeply inappropriate barely four years after the murder by Saudi agents of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The meeting is seen as the latest step in the readmission of the de-facto ruler of the kingdom into the international fold, after US President Joe Biden met him earlier this month.

The topics set to loom over the meeting include energy supply as concern grows over possible power shortages in wake of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, as well as reining in the nuclear program of Riyadh’s top regional foe Iran.

Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned the “Israeli” entity that “If oil and gas extraction from Karish began in September and Lebanon did not get its due, then there will be a problem”.

His Eminence’s remarks came in an interview with the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel on Monday as part of the «Dialogue of the 40^thAnniversary» about the achievements of the Resistance over the past several decades.

Εντελώς αντιφατική εικόνα για την εξέλιξη της ανεργίας και της απασχόλησης προκύπτει από τα στοιχεία της ΕΛΣΤΑΤ και της Δημόσιας Υπηρεσίας Απασχόλησης (ΔΥΠΑ, πρώην ΟΑΕΔ). Οι αποκλίσεις στους αριθμούς που δίνουν οι δύο δημόσιοι φορείς είναι τεράστιες, προκαλώντας ερωτηματικά όσον αφορά την αξιοπιστία των μετρήσεων της ΕΛΣΤΑΤ – δεδομένου ότι η ΔΕΠΥ βασίζεται σε πρωτογενές υλικό .

Τα τελευταία στοιχεία των δύο φορέων αφορούν τον Μάιο και είναι… “η μέρα με τη νύχτα:

• Η ΕΛΣΤΑΤ ανακοίνωσε ότι αυτό το μήνα οι άνεργοι ήταν 596.056, δίνοντας τη δυνατότητα στα φιλοκυβερνητικά μέσα ενημέρωσης να πανηγυρίσουν ότι η ανεργία “έπεσε στα προ Μνημονίων επίπεδα”!
• Είχε προηγηθεί όμως η ΔΕΠΥ/ΟΑΕΔ, που διαθέτει στοιχεία “από πρώτο χέρι”, καθώς η ίδια καταγράφει ανέργους, απασχολούμενους, μετακινούμενους, επιδοτούμενους κλπ. Στα μητρώα της υπηρεσίας αυτής οι άνεργοι ήταν τον Μάιο 926.444 άτομα – 329.388 περισσότεροι απ’ όσους…

Υπάρχουν κυβερνήσεις – και κόμματα – αλλά και μεμονωμενοι πολιτικοί και υπουργοί, ακόμα και εντός του ίδιου κόμματος, που προσπαθούν να προβλέψουν τα προβλήματα και να τα επιλύσουν με μακροπρόθεσμη προοπτική, όπως έκανε για παράδειγμα η Κυβέρνηση ΣΥΡΙΖΑ με την συμφωνία του 2015 μετά το δημοψήφισμα, για την έξοδο από τα μνημόνια και με την Συμφωνία των Πρεσπών, που δεν ήταν και η καλύτερη συμφωνία κατά την γνώμη μου, αλλά δεν μπορούμε να τα έχουμε όλα, όμως ήταν πιο αναγκαία από την μη – συμφωνία που κρυβόταν από τους προηγούμενους κάτω από το χαλί για δεκαετίες.

Υπάρχουν όμως και κυβερνήσεις, που συντηρούνται από τα κοινωνικά προβλήματα ή ακόμη χειρότερα τα προκαλούν με διπλό σκοπό. Από την μια να έχουν διαρκώς το μεγαλύτερο μέρος την πολιτών στην ανάγκη του Κράτους για οτιδήποτε και από την άλλη να πλουτίζουν την νομενκλατούρα, η οποία με την σειρά της έχει σε ομηρία τους πολιτικούς…

EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders stated in a letter dated July 25 that Apple alerted him in November 2021 of possible hacking of his smartphone by the Israeli Pegasus software.

The European Commission, the EU executive’s arm in Brussels, has discovered indications that the phones of some of its top officials have been targeted with spy software designed byIsraeli surveillance firm NSO Group.

EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders stated in a letter dated July 25 to Dutch MEP Sophie in’t Veld that Apple alerted him in November 2021 of possible hacking of his smartphone by the Israeli Pegasus software.

Pegasus is Israeli spyware that targeted prominent and influential figures all around the globe, including politicians and journalists.
